Cavs vs. Magic: Showdown in the Sunshine State
Tonight’s game at the Amway Arena, in Orlando, will be a battle of the division leaders. The game is featuring two of the NBA’s top four teams in their first meeting of the season. The Cavs enter with the NBA’s best record at 35-8. The Magic (34-10) have the fourth-best record.
Each team features an MVP candidate - Lebron James and Dwight Howard. Cavs point guard Mo Williams could be a first-time All-Star by the 8 p.m. tipoff, and so could Orlando point guard Jameer Nelson. A Cavs win would mean their head coach, Mike Brown, gets to coach the Eastern Conference in the upcoming All-Star game. Williams, though, said that there is only one thing on their minds tonight. “The win. The win. That’s it. This is a team that we can possibly see in the playoffs at some point in time. And we want to come out and first and foremost, win. Set the tone for it.”
Lebron James stated, “The Magic are a very, very good shooting team, and they’ve got a monster in the paint.” The Cavs are a good shooting team themselves, but they win on the defensive end of the floor. “We know defense is where we make our statement,” James said.
No matter what, it will be a great game between two great teams. This game is hard for me, because I’ve been in Orlando for nine years, yet my roots are in Cleveland. If it was any other game, I would root for the Magic…but tonight, it’s all about James and the Gang!
